Winchester

A small city with a rural atmosphere, the 9.2-square-mile city of Winchester has an estimated population of around 27,000.

Winchester sits nestled in the picturesque Shenandoah Valley of northern Virginia, just one hour from Dulles International Airport. Winchester is also within an easy drive of Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Richmond, thanks to easy access to a number of major highways, including Interstate 81.

Winchester is home to four elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school, as well as Shenandoah University and Lord Fairfax Community College. The city hosts the annual Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival, which features bands, competitions, dances, a carnival, dinners, luncheons, a wine festival, a 10K Race, the Coronation of Queen Shenandoah, two large parades, and celebrity appearances.
